What does summer mean to you? According to American popular culture , summer means barbecues, road trips and roller coasters. In my family, it means reruns of Family Matter and Fresh Prince.

Speaking of tv, I was watching Jeopardy the other day, when Alex Trebek asked the following question in the category of ‘things ending with the letter “o” ‘: “Country on the West Coast of the African Continent”. I yelled “Congo” to the screen, before one of the contestants gave the right answer: “Togo”. So, that’s what happens to the state of my geography during the summer. Before you point the judging finger, name the countries in Lusophone Africa…go google it. I won’t tell anybody.

Lusophone Africa is one part of the continent that isn’t talked about much. Most people know that French and English are spoken in Africa. Very few know that there are also those countries that speak Portuguese. I would love to visit one of them, one day.
