Chapter 3: Consistency

One of the things you learn as a rookie in the game called “Adulthood” is Consistency. It’s not just about knowing what the right thing to do is. It’s also about doing the right thing…consistently. People will listen to you for a long time, but at the end of the day, it’s about what you do. and how often you do it.

Consistency in action leads trust. And when you gain people’s trust, you gain power, which you will (hopefully) use to do more of “the right thing”. It’s amazing how long it takes to build that trust, and how fast it takes to lose it.

I now understands why some people prefer to shop brand-name, instead of going for the custom-made for everything. Custom-made is great for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, but for most things, people want consistency. For the person on the giving side of the relationship, whether it be a parent-child relationship, an employer-employee relationship or a seller-buyer relationship, Consistency is the means of gaining more trust and sometimes, respect. For the person on the receiving end, Consistency means Peace of Mind, Security, Stability.

No matter how much we yearn for Change, all of us desire a certain level of Stability.

Here’s to doing the right thing…consistently!.
