{via}

Name: Deborah Ahenkorah

Ask high school and college students in America to name African writers that they know and many will come up with a very short list. Deborah Ahenkorah and her team are working to change that. Deborah is the co-founder and Executive Director of The Golden Baobab Prize, a literary award with the goal of “identifying the African literary giants of the next generation” by connecting African stories by Africans with interested publications. I was so excited to see Deborah’s name among the 2011 Echoing Green Finalists. I can’t wait for the whole world to learn about The Golden Baobab Prize.

You go, Deborah!
