Marrying Culture and Career: Profiles

Remember how I said that there would be more about “the hyphen”?

I’ve always wanted to do features on young people who are not simply living “between” their two worlds, but choosing to marry their culture (cultural background) and their careers (or passions). Gillean’s recent post about transforming her blog into a “a creative online space for collaboration and promotion of creative Africans in Africa, and the diaspora, with a strong focus on creative people of Afro-Australian descent” put the fire back under this desire.

I’m really enjoying this series! There seems to be a marked increase in Africans choosing to amalgamate their heritage and careers. I’m going down this path so this is giving me that extra bit of inspiration 🙂
